The Yellow Water Ranch is a Black Angus cow/calf operation located in central Montana. Our cattle herd includes both commercial and registered cattle. The veterinarian owned Yellow Water Ranch properties are managed by Kris Harris of Winnett, MT.  The black angus genetics behind our cattle herd originate primarily from the Vermilion Ranch (Billings, MT). Our breeding program includes artificial insemination using sires such as TC Franklin 619 and SAV Final Answer 0035. Our pasture sires include outstanding sons of Connealy Danny Boy, Baldridge Nebraska, HSAF Bando, Vermilion X-Factor, and TC Franklin. We select for cattle that exhibit a quick rate of gain to achieve sizable weaning and yearling weights. We also select for correct conformation, mild temperament, and reproductive efficiency. Throughout our ranch operations, we strive to humanely raise healthy animals in a clean and safe environment. The majority of our calves are raised all-natural, meaning they are vegetarian fed and never exposed to growth hormones or antibiotics.
Vast pastureland and abundant water rights make the ranch a productive setting for running our cattle. The ranch is located in Petroleum County near the town of Winnett. It borders the Yellow Water Reservoir on one end, and extends along Elk Creek to encompass the shores of Petrolia Lake. Flatwillow creek and Yellow Water creek also pass through the ranch. Water rights and use agreements from the creeks and both reservoirs provide the irrigation and some of the stock water for the ranch. Overall, the Yellow Water Ranch is an ideal setting for producing excellent Montana beef.
